ENCHANTRESS OF FLORENCE     -by SALMAN RUSHDIE

The latest novel from the master novelist Salman Rushdie is a lovely account of the woman’s beauty. It tries to convey that how a lady’s beauty could be devastating and resourcefully creative, too. What makes Rushdie so great writer is his art of creating eastern scenes and the multi-dimensional sentences.

His mastery for creating the exotic scenes is in full play in this novel. His capacity to construct multi-layered sentences seems to be at the highest in this book. By applying his skills he has made the India of sixteenth century alive on the pages.

While narrating the full-length love of Akbar and Jodhabai, his wife, he also narrates the Florence of that time. With the exotic narration of both the civilisations, the master writer had put an aromatic plate, full of tastes, before us.

‘Enchantress of Florence’ should be a strong contestant for this year’s Man Booker Prize.
