"A lie gets halfway around the world
before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
- Sir Winston Churchill
One of the most experianced politicians, Winston Churchill revealed the power of lying. The current lot of politicians, especially the Indian politicians, use this tool of lying very effectively.
It is said the the TRUTH has legs and the UNTRUTH has wings.

Dear Naval Langa,
After going through the comments here I am forced to believe that a man how ever high may be in merit , gets the ranking according to the opinions held by him of the evaluator. Thus Britishers should be ranking him high in their esteem and the men from the erstwhile occupied territories, feel dis-enchanted with him. That is as far as one's prejudice would go. For me he comes as a great statesman, writer, nationalist, successful politician and the greatest leader of men in crisis. His diplomatic interlude to get the U.S. to get in to the war and his speech of "blood, sweat and tears" epitomizes his personality and strength of character. His depiction of Gandhi as the- naked fakir is less offensive when you compare the rantings of Mayawathi and her ilk in India.
Your observations are quite right. And perhaps for those reasons he, Winston churchil was ousted as Prime Minister in the election held after World War II.
Yes, though Winston Churchil was one of the good statemen of the west, he had no proper opinion about Indians in general and Mahatma Gandhi in particular.
Yes, we the Indians have proved those persons wrong who believed that we would not be able to progress on our own.

Thanks for the blog. Chruchill was considered as a great man in the west, I have heard Americans talk very high of him (He was first in British poll of great/important people taken 5 years ago) . But our experience is not that good. He represents the arrogance of imperialism. Apart from his deplorable statements about Gandhi,I have read that he did not understand the harm of nuclear weapons. Churchill did not talk properly with Niels Bohr, a great scientist and an equally great human being, He even suspected Bohr of being a traitor ! Regards
